I used to ride my 'trike' (tricycle) from our 'mill house' down Mill Street to collect the bread from the baker's shop. A girl (Ridgeway) used to chase me along Mill Street with a stick of sugar cane whenever she saw me. I learned to pedal fast without falling off. I still cycle (around Cairns) to this day. My father was an engineer at Mossman Mill at the time and I turned 5 years old in that year so am somewhat younger than you.
